Performing Groups
The Concert Band - Quality band literature is studied and performed by this group. In addition to campus concerts, the band performs on tour each year for high school audiences. Membership is available to all Lambuth students who have had high school band experience. Students receive one credit hour per semester. Performance grants are available. Dr. Lee Weimer, Director
The Concert Choir - Admission is by audition. The choir studies and performs fine choral literature, sings for special events and United Methodist Churches, and takes an annual tour. Performance grants are awarded yearly. Members are selected from all areas of the University. Students receive one credit hour per semester. Dr. Ross Bernhardt, Director.
The Jazz Band - This group performs throughout the year at clubs, churches, and schools. Auditions for singers and instrumentalists are held in the fall semester. Performance grants are awarded yearly. The band performs a variety of "Big Band" literature in jazz and popular styles. Mr. Derek Jones, Director.
The Lambuth Singers - A select choral ensemble performing classical chamber literature and vocal jazz. Annual tour and special engagements. Four hours rehearsal per week. May be repeated for credit. Auditions held fall and spring. Concurrent enrollment in MUS 1711 required. Dr. Ross Bernhardt, Director.
The Lambuth Theatre - This group is a full-season educational theatre open for participation by all interested Lambuth students as well as those majoring in communications and theatre. It provides on-stage and backstage experience in performing and producing all the major dramatic genres including Broadway musicals, classical period plays, modern serious dramas, and contemporary comedies. Open auditions are held for all productions. Dr. Florence Dyer, Director.
The Lambuth University Cheerleaders - The cheerleaders promote school spirit by leading cheers at football games and men's and women's basketball games. They attend summer camp for cheerleaders, hold pep rallies, and engage in a number of fund raising events. The squad is limited to upperclass students, with tryouts held each spring.
The Lambuth University Dance Team - The dance team promotes school spirit by performing dance routines at home football and basketball games. This squad also performs at various athletic events in Jackson such as the NAIA National Tournament. Performance scholarships are available. Tryouts are held in the spring for upperclass students and in the fall for freshmen.
