Hands-on learning is critical to students who choose a major in the School of Mathematical & Natural Sciences. With small classes meeting for laboratory and classroom sessions, faculty members work closely with students and often require written reports and oral presentations.
Biology
Get ready for coursework at three levels of biological resolution related to cells, organisms, and ecology. Students receive background knowledge in the traditional areas of biological study including botany, zoology, genetics, and microbiology. The Lambuth Biology Department maintains an affiliation with Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, Mississippi and the Oxley Biological Station located on Lake Kentucky, Tennessee is also available to students for aquatic and terrestrial studies.
Chemistry and Physical Sciences
Lambuth offers students a seminar setting and well-equipped laboratories for their study of Chemistry and Physical Sciences. Students are encouraged to participate in undergraduate research, summer internship programs, and the activities of Lambuth's student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society.
Mathematics and Physics
With small classes, a dedicated faculty, and lots of problems to solve, Math and Physics majors at Lambuth enjoy the small study groups and challenging curriculum.
